Recycling in Public
Water and soda bottles:
Recycle cans and bottles when bins are available.
Write to your Legislator to promote placing recycling bins in public for water bottles and soda cans.
To Go Containers:
Use biodegradable containers plates and utensils instead of paper plates. They can be manufactured with bagasse, which is sugar cane pulp. Purchase biodegradable products at the biodegradable store on line. Encourage restaurants to use biodegradable to go containers.

Bring your own mug
At the Grocery Store:
- Bring your own tote bag
- Buy recycled products: paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags
- Return your plastic grocery bags for recycling, you can also include dry cleaning plastic
- Consider buying organic produce
- Choose unbleached coffee filters
- Choose low phosphate dishwashing detergent. Most laundry detergents have already scaled back phosphate content
- Choose compact flourescent bulbs (CFL) over traditional light bulbs
- Avoid sprays containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFC)
At the Office:
- Use the recycling bins at work to recycle paper and soda cans
- Use recycled paper
- Use the print draft feature on documents that are just for you
- Use the double-sided, duplexing feature on your printer
- Use unbleached coffee filters
- Have your own mug and water glass at work
- Turn off your computer and monitor at night
